“A million-dollar sound” is how Luka Faulisi’s playing was described by Pinchas Zukerman.
Other leading musicians agree: Emmanuel Pahud calls him “an extremely talented young man with great instrumental abilities and strong musical expression,” Jean-Jacques Kantorow praises his “incredible facilities,” and Pavel Berman hails this 22-year-old French-Italian-Serbian phenomenon as “an unbelievably gifted virtuoso violinist.”
Five thousand fans greeted Luka Faulisi as he stepped onto the stage of the Royal Albert Hall to make his UK debut with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in 2024. Nearly 50,000 follow his rise on social media.
Recognised as one of classical music’s leading young voices, this young violinist was featured on Classic FM’s 2023 “30 Under 30” Rising Stars list and was named a BBC Music Magazine Rising Star the same year. He is a recipient of the distinguished Bicentenary Scholarship from London’s Royal Academy of Music, where he was mentored by Professor Robin Wilson, following his studies with Boris Belkin in Maastricht.
Luka records exclusively for Sony Classical. In 2024, Sony released his highly acclaimed interpretation of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with Orkiestra Historyczna under Martyna Pastuszka. The label noted that this foray into the Baroque repertoire “further proves the Italian-French-Serbian violinist’s versatility and virtuosity, while underlining his strength as a musical storyteller.” His debut recital album, Aria, recorded with pianist Itamar Golan in 2023, won multiple awards including a Diapason d’Or and a Choc Classica.
Luka’s collaborations with orchestras also include Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse (Wilson Ng), Orchestre National d'Île-de-France at the Philharmonie de Paris and La Seine Musicale (Lio Kuokman), Orchestra Filharmonica di Torino (Giampaolo Pretto), National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland (Jonathon Heyward), Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Oulu Symphony (Joana Carneiro), Sinfonia Varsovia (play/direct), Szczecin Philharmonic (Case Scaglione), Serbian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra (Aleksandar Markovic), Orquestra Municipal de Sintra (Cesário Costa), Macao Orchestra (Tung-Chieh Chuang) and Hong Kong Sinfonietta (Ken Lam), among others.
In summer 2024, Luka made a critically acclaimed debut at the Radio France Montpellier Festival, performing a series of recitals featuring works by Bach, Brahms, Ysaÿe, and Bartók. He is a regular guest at La Folle Journée festivals in Nantes, Warsaw and Tokyo.
Passionate about bringing classical music to new fans, Luka teams up with a European stand-up comedy star Alex Vizorek for a 26-date tour across the French-speaking countries in the current season. His program, made up of works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bizet, Ravel, Saint-Saens, Marquez, Piazzolla and Gershwin, draws a young socially and ethnically diverse audiences.
