Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit was the centerpiece of the recital program Lucas played at the competition and became his signature piece, the perfect vehicle for his highly personal playing style. Debargue also performs a selection of sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, part of his most recent large-scale project: a four-volume, 52-sonata tribute to the 18th-century keyboard luminary, released this season on Sony.
